Babe Ruth in His Middle Years

Where we left off George was about to become a Baltimore Raven and he did!!!!!! But little did he know that it was just beginning. You may be wondering how Babe Ruth got his nickname. Well it all started when there became a law where you had to have a legal guardian to sign a contract saying that you can go to the major leagues. So because of that Jack Dunn decided to become George's legal guardian. Then other teammates jokingly started calling Ruth "Dunn's New Babe" Then it got cut short to "Babe" Ruth. But he only spent a little with the Ravens, he got accepted to the Boston major league team. With five years Ruth gave the Red Sox 3 trips to the championships. But then something big happend in Babe's life, Harry Frazze had to pay some big debts so he sold Babe to the Yankees!!!!!!!!

Babe Ruth In His Younger Years

At age 7 George Herman Ruth  began wondering into Baltimore and getting into trouble. Finally his parents decided to send him to St. Mary’s Industrial School for Boy, which was a Catholic orphanage and reformatory that became Babe Ruth’s home for the next 12 years. Ruth mostly looked up to a monk named Brother Mathias, who became like a father  to George. Then the monks introduced baseball to George. By the age of 15 he became a great pitcher and hitter. George’s pitching is what caught Jack Dunn’s (the owner of the minor league  Baltimore Orioles) eye and that is how it all began.

Harriet Tubman was a very famous person from Maryland. She helped save over  300 slaves. Tubman made 19 trips to Maryland. At one point they were offering a $40,000 reward to anyone who caught her; however , she never got caught. As Tubman once said,”On my underground railroad I never run my train off the track and I never lost a passenger.” Harriet Tubman was a great woman and I hope one day everyone can be as brave and courageous as her.
